Alarms, security doors and cameras are work we have done. A secure entry is not three separate scopes — it is a door, a reader, a camera, an intercom and a release, all of which have to work together on the day the fire marshal walks the building. That is how we price it and that is how we build it.
The secure-entry package Michigan districts put out to bid, priced the way those bid categories are actually written: the opening and its door prep, the conduit, raceway, boxes, sleeves and pull wires, the power supplies and electric strikes, the door position switches, and the final connections coordinated with the owner's security contractor — who on these jobs furnishes the card reader, intercom station and remote release. We carry the door prep, the raceway and the low voltage together instead of splitting them across three subs.
Card readers, controllers and panel locations, electrified hardware and power transfer, electric strikes, electronic latches and exit devices, with maglocks and request-to-exit devices where a specification calls for them, and the cabling between them. Coordinated with the hollow metal and door hardware scope in the same general-trades package.
Interior, corridor and exterior camera locations taken off the drawings, mounting and rough-in, pathways and terminations, recorder and head-end location, network hand-off, and a documented channel list at turnover.
Contacts, motion detection, keypads and panel location, arming zones that match how the building is actually used, and a clean hand-off to whoever the owner has chosen to monitor the system.
Licensing is settled scope by scope before we bid. Where Michigan requires a licensed alarm or electrical contractor for a portion of the work, that portion is carried under the correct licence — self-performed where ours covers it, or by a licensed partner named in our submission. Ask us on the specific package and you will get a straight answer before bid day, not after.
